Route 1

Sa Calobra: The Ultimate Cycling Climb in Mallorca

Sa Calobra is the most famous climb in Mallorca and a true bucket-list ride for any serious cyclist. Furthermore, it is made iconic by the professional teams who train here every season. The route descends from the Coll dels Reis down a spectacular switchback road, including the Nus de sa Corbata, a full 270-degree loop that passes directly under itself. As a result, the descent alone leaves most cyclists speechless before the real work even begins.

The route runs approximately 30km round trip starting from Port de Sóller. Furthermore, after descending to the tiny cove of Sa Calobra, you turn around and climb the entire way back. Above all, it is brutal. Moreover, it is entirely unforgettable. Therefore, if you only ride one climb during your time cycling in Mallorca, this is the one.

Start: Port de Sóller
High point: Coll dels Reis
Turnaround: Sa Calobra cove
Distance: Approximately 30km round trip
Difficulty: Hard

Route 2

Palma to Andratx Coastal Loop: The Pro Team Favourite

The Palma to Andratx coastal loop is a firm favourite among professional cycling teams for base training. Furthermore, it offers rolling coastal roads southwest from Palma through pine forests and past Port d’Andratx’s beautiful yacht harbour. Moreover, the road surface is excellent and traffic outside summer months is light. As a result, it provides the ideal combination of volume and variety for endurance training.

The route includes a few punchy climbs but nothing extreme, making it accessible for a wide range of fitness levels. Furthermore, Port d’Andratx serves as a natural coffee stop before the return to Palma. Above all, this is the route that shows you why professional teams keep coming back to cycling in Mallorca year after year.

Start: Palma city centre
Via: Andratx and Port d’Andratx yacht harbour
Distance: Approximately 90km round trip

Route 3

Cap de Formentor: One of the Most Scenic Cycling Routes in Europe

Cap de Formentor is rated one of the most scenic cycling rides in all of Europe. Furthermore, the route heads out along a dramatic narrow peninsula road to the northernmost tip of the island. Moreover, cliffside curves with sheer drops to turquoise water make every kilometre genuinely breathtaking. As a result, most cyclists stop multiple times simply to take in the view.

The route ends at the Formentor Lighthouse, one of Mallorca’s most iconic landmarks. Furthermore, go early in the morning to beat both the heat and the tour buses on the peninsula road. Above all, this ride proves that cycling in Mallorca is as much about the scenery as it is about the legs.

Start: Pollença
Via: Cap de Formentor clifftop viewpoint
Turnaround: Formentor Lighthouse at the northern tip
